Digital Cameras

Digital Camera main types

Digital cameras come in many diferent shapes and sizes, but can be mostly grouped into the these 4 main types:

           Compact Digital Cameras
           Digital SLR (DSLr) Cameras
           Bridge Digital Cameras
           Interchangeable Lens Cameras

Compact Digital Cameras

A compact digital camera, also called  "point and shoot" cameras, is made to be easy to use, small and portable as possible. They are slim enough to slip into a pocket, making them perfect for when you're out and about and want to get some great photos without problem of carrying a large camera around.
These models don't offer the same image quality, and level of control like advanced cameras, digital compacts are great choice for all the people who just want to snap away with minimal problems.

Digital SLR cameras

A digital SLR also known as "DSLR", is a more advanced type, which offers the ultimate in digital picture quality, much greater control over settings, and interchangeable lenses. They work in much the same way as traditional 35mm film SLRs, using a digital sensor rather than film, greatly reducing or even eliminating processing costs, and save a lot of time.
DSLRs are the no.1 choice of professionals and serious amateurs who want the added versatility and control over options such as: quality, shutter speed, and ISO sensitivity…
As a result of this complexity they are the more expensive, larger, and heavier.

Bridge Cameras

A  bridge camera fills the space between “point and shoot” cameras and DSLRs. They are very much similar to a digital SLR, but minus some important options such: optical viewfinder and interchangeable lenses. However, the most of them still offer a high level control over settings, much like an SLR.
This models can be a best choice for people who have reached the limits of a compact camera, but still want something which is relatively easy to use. However, the growing number of cheap, entry-level digital SLRs is making bridge cameras not that popular.

Interchangeable Lens Cameras

A relatively new addition to the digital photo-camera market is the interchangeable lens cameras. These fill the same space as digital bridge cameras, offering something in between a “point and shoot” and  SLR. However, they offer something new and very different, with small, compact-like bodies and interchangeable SLR-like lenses rather the bridge cameras' large, SLR-like bodies and fixed lenses.
This cameras offer an great alternative to entry-level DSLRs, with very similar picture qualityand options but much smaller bodies. The most popular type are Micro Four Thirds cameras, which use a universal lens mount to ensure all lenses are compatible with all cameras, which is great and very practical.
